About the Author

Michael Gordner has spent his working life in the kitchenware industry. For the first twelve years, he was travelling internationally, selling cookware for FISSLER, the global market leader in the premium segment.

In 1998, the next chapter in his career took him to Japan, where he was appointed to head the Japanese subsidiary of ZWILLING J.A. Henckels. There, the knife business that began as profession turned into a passion. In his more than thirteen years living in Japan, he not only learnt a lot about knives, but also applied that knowledge professionally, by acquiring a knife company in Seki, assisting in restructuring the factory, developing new technologies and using new steel, creating the MIYABI brand, developing MIYABI products, and partnering with Bob Kramer to build the Bob Kramer by ZWILLING line of licensed production.

In 2011, he was transferred to the headquarters of ZWILLING in Germany, where he headed (among other things) product management and product development for the different products and brands of the group. Among the many great products he had to take care of, knives remained his biggest passion, and the MIYABI business his child.

Since 2021, he is running his own business, consulting companies in the consumer durables/ kitchenware industry, but is also selling his own line of products under the CULILUX brand.
